Transportation Announcements School Bus Safety Week October 19-23, 2009"AVOID HARM, OBEY THE ARM"
Governor Bob Riley has proclaimed October 19-23 as Alabama School Bus Safety Week. This special emphasis coordinates with national School Bus Safety Week, which is an active, continuing public education program designed to promote school bus safety.Each day, school buses in Alabama provide transportation for over 377,852 public school students and their safety is paramount. To continue educating students, parents, and school personnel on the importance of bus safety, the Alabama Department of Education also promotes School Bus Safety Week, October 19-23. New Transportation Procedures Effective 8/12/09Beginning 8/12/09, students will not be allowed to ride from one school to another in the a.m. or p.m. unless they are going to another school for a school sponsored event (EDP, football practice, volleyball practice, etc.) or the student is an employee's child.

Substitute Bus Drivers NeededIf you would like to become a substitute bus driver for the transportation department you will need to complete the following:
1. Hold a valid CDL license 2. Submit to random drug testing 3. Attend and pass bus driver certification class provided by the State Dept. of Education 4. Pass a pre-trip and driving test in a bus 5. Attend annual bus driver training workshops 6. Acquire annual physical from physician 7.
